You simply move the original filter to the other side of the pump and fit a courser filter in its place. We clean the pre filter every race and change the 10 micron filter once a year.

Pre pump fuel filter. Since the pump wont be in the tank i cant use a sock but the pump has a built in filter not sure if that will be enough. My fuel system is totally different to. My new project has a fuel cell and i am doing a bosch 044 pump. This starts with a pre filter ahead of the pump along with another filter after the pump with a finer filter and the entire system plumbed with sufficient size lines and full flow fittings.
